Frequently Asked Questions

Who Goes to Mindfulness Retreats?

Anyone can benefit from mindfulness. Couples, friends, relatives, single individuals, seekers of insight, people who need a break, people who are excited to get busy and looking for a way to maximize their efforts, business leaders looking for a way to increase connection in their teams, healers looking for a space to replenish their own well-being, and many more individuals who are looking for a place of peace and wonder where they can rest and regroup for a few days.

Why Do I need a Retreat?

Sometimes all we need to handle whatever it is we’re facing in our life is a chance to step back and accurately see where we are in relationship to the decisions before us. This capacity to recognize our situations accurately is a part of mindfulness. Giving yourself time to consider your options, weigh pros and cons, and to determine what it is you truly desire is also part of mindfulness. No matter what you have happening in your life today, taking a few days to breathe deeply, think clearly, and recharge your mental and emotional energy is always a good idea.

What kind of food is prepared at the Retreat?

As residents and laborers on a Biodynamic, regenerative ranch we believe that good food is foundational to well-being. Much of the food for our retreats is sourced directly from the ranch. Grass-fed beef and eggs from our cattle and chickens; freshly picked, biodynamically raised produce from our garden and greenhouse, with the remainder sourced from local growers and the organic section of our local markets. If you have specific dietary needs please let us know well in advance of your arrival. We do try to accommodate attendees as much as possible and need plenty of time to do so. Once each retreat has started we will not be traveling the considerable distance to town to change our scheduled meals.

What is included in the cost of attendance?

The cost for your mindfulness retreats include a stay in a comfortable bed here at the Sorensen Ranch, 3 meals a day, snacks, the tuition cost for mindfulness instruction and supplies. The beauty of the mountain peaks, the wonder of the stars from horizon to horizon, and the chance to set aside the noise and distraction of life for a few days are free of charge…and beyond price.

What Should I bring with me?

We recommend bringing a jacket, nights are cold here at the base of the mountains. We also recommend protection from the sun since we are at a high elevation. If weather permits we will have the opportunity to visit a local hot spring, so please feel free to bring clothes you’d feel comfortable wearing in the water. If you plan on hiking through the fields you’ll definitely want a sturdy pair of hiking boots. Most people consider a brimmed hat to be a necessity here as well.

Do you offer Individual Coaching?

At this time I do not offer personal coaching, but I have several colleagues who do and I will happily refer you to them should you desire continuing individual work.

Can You Tell Me about your Pricing?

Our retreats are based on an industry standard of $200/night for mindfulness instruction plus an all-inclusive, double-occupancy stay. We’ve tried to come in a little under that $200 price tag so our 3 Day/2 Night stays are $379.

Do you do couples Retreats?

We do not currently have specific couples retreats on our 2021 event schedule, but couples are welcome to attend together and they will find that the focus on individual mindfulness can be very beneficial to their relationship.
