Clover Valley

Located just a few miles south of Wells, Nevada, clover Valley is like a 15 mile strip of surprise and delight. Nestled against the backdrop of the East Humboldt Mountains, at the beginning of the Scenic Great Basin Highway, the natural springs, snow runoff, and swales of the foothills have created a landscape bathed in green, shaded by tall trees, and well tended by the agrarians who live here.

With the East Humboldts rising from 6,000 feet from the valley floor to 11,306 feet at its highest peak, the view is breathtaking. The expanse of the Great Basin spreads out to the East in shades of green, gold, rose, blue, and purple to Little Cedar Mountain to the NorthEast and the Pequop Mountains, where we watch the sunrise directly east of us.

This quiet valley is made up of working ranches with state forests on the sides of the mountain. The wildlife abounds in this place where so few people have settles. The snow melt has created naturally occurring habitats for migratory waterfowl, Bald Eagle, Kestrel, Sage Grouse, and red-tailed hawk. It is common to see deer, ground squirrels, and pronghorn on a daily basis. Less common, but still present in the valley and on the mountain, are elk, coyote, porcupine, raccoon, skunk, Black bear, and Mountain Lion.

Every rock, every blade of grass, every magnificent sunset and sunrise, from the long never-ending sky to the littlest hidden wild flower, everything here seems to call “home!”

Sorensen Ranch

The Sorensen family has Operated their Ranch in Nevada for a Century. This is a working ranch, with chores happening daily to ensure that the grass grows lush and green for the cattle.

The Sorensen Ranch is dedicated to using regenerative principles in all of their ventures. This means that they care for the land and the animals in ways that seek to guarantee a healthy ecosystem for the next century. This commitment includes Biodynamic methods, no pesticide or herbicide use, as well as work to plant trees, drought resistant grasses, native forages, and wildflowers.

The Sorensen Ranch is part of a Nevada State effort ot prevent the greater Northern Sage Grouse from being placed on the endangered species list due to loss of habitat from development, fire, and a changing climate. We are actively preserving and caring for the habitat where they are found here on the ranch. You may be fortunate enough to see these beautiful birds while you are here with us.

The evidence of labors from years past are still here in the corners of fields and yards. They act as reminders of the love and dedication it took to preserve this beautiful place.
